Confessions of a fabricologist

It's in the stars

8 years ago · 1 MIN READ

This quilt started life when I went to a workshop in 2014 to learn a technique called Stack and Whack, which basically means cutting your material so that you have identical pieces to make your stars. Each star is made out of the same material but the effect of using different sections of the fabric mean that each one looks unique.  Here are a few up close photos to illustrate:

Once the stars had been created I had my first go at making cornerstones, which are the checkered squares between each star. I love the vibrancy of this quilt and have decided to enter in the local quilters exhibition, I hope they like it as much as I do!

It took about 20 months to complete as I kept getting side tracked with other quilting projects and my desire to make sure I got this one absolutely right. During the same period I also moved house, got engaged and created many other quilts!
