I have made a number of baby quilts for friends at work as gifts, as a result of one such gift I was asked to make a baby quilt for her friend and she would pay me to do it!

It turned out the baby was twins, so I made the quilt larger than originally planned but managed to keep the cost of the material within the agreed budget.

As the mum-to-be was an orthoptist I decided to include lots of shapes, colours and patterns in the design so that it was visually stimulating for the babies. The Noah's Ark themed material was my focus material and I decided to work around that.

For the backing I bought a brushed cotton bedsheet in pale blue, which was a fraction of the cost of backing material and feels so soft!

Floriane was delighted with the quilt and I hope to make many more ...
